Grand jury indicts 18 - five indicted on felony sex charges

The Logan County Grand Jury indicted eighteen people earlier this week, including three men on rape charges.

Timothy Showens (pictured), 49, of 700 Township Road 179, Apt. 7C, Bellefontaine, was indicted for two counts of rape (F1) and two counts of gross sexual imposition (F3).

On July 13th, the Bellefontaine Police Department arrested Showens for two counts of rape.

He allegedly molested an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl.

The girls' father contacted the Bellefontaine Police Department last November.

Michael Williams, 35, of 700 Township Road 179, Apt. 3C, Bellefontaine, was indicted for rape (F1), sexual battery (F3), and gross sexual imposition (F4).

On August 3rd, Williams was charged with two counts of rape following a brief investigation by the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Williams allegedly raped two Bellefontaine girls under the age of 15 within the last month.

One of the victim's relatives reported the incident.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office and Logan County Children's Services assisted with the investigation.

Steven Eastman, 50, of Great Bend, Kansas, was indicted for rape (F1), gross sexual imposition (F3), and importuning (F3).

Eastman was arrested while attending a family event in Bellefontaine in late June.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office charged Eastman with rape and gross sexual imposition.

Deputies started their investigation three years ago.

The alleged victim is a county female under the age of 13.

Eastman has relatives in the West Mansfield area.

Kayla Newland, 22, of 901 West Market Street, Lima, was indicted for three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor (F4).

On July 16th, Newland was arrested on multiple felony charges after she allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old Russells Point boy earlier this summer.

Newland was involved with the boy at least three times before the victim's sibling contacted the Russells Point Police Department on July 8th.

Newland was charged with unlawful sexual contact.

Newland previously stayed with the victim's sister for a short time.

Matthew Warnecke, 32, of 6333 Creps Road, Harrod, was indicted for illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material (F2) and voyeurism (F5).

Warnecke was arrested on July 7th after he allegedly was jumping up and down with his cell phone attempting to take pictures through the bathroom window of a residence on Orchard Island the previous night.

A neighbor alerted the homeowner. The resident and the suspect's wife confronted Warnecke and retrieved his phone. The wife found evidence that Warnecke had taped young girls showering in the home.

The Washington Township Police Department responded and found Warnecke at his dad's home near Huntsville. Warnecke was charged with voyeurism and pandering sexually oriented material involving a juvenile.

Nicholas Beair, 24, of 215 South Springhill Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted for two counts of aggravated robbery (F1) and one count of theft (M1).

Steven Coe, 22, of 716 North Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted for aggravated robbery (F1).

Wyatt Covington, 20, of 714 West Chillicothe Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted for aggravated robbery (F1).

John Prather, 51, of 217 Walker Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted for aggravated robbery (F1).

David Rupert, 23, of 714 West Chillicothe Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted for complicity to aggravated robbery (F1).

Dennis Wenger, 66, of Columbus, was indicted for abduction (F3) and domestic violence (F4).

Cody Anderson, 25, of 720 West Columbus Avenue, Apt. 4, Bellefontaine, was indicted for burglary (F3), breaking and entering (F5), and theft (M1).

Joseph Bair, 26, of 21566 Maplewood Road, Maplewood, was indicted for breaking and entering (F5) and theft (F5).

David Payne, 36, of 117 Powers Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted for illegal conveyance of drugs onto grounds of detention facility (F3) and trafficking in drugs (F5) with forfeiture of cash and cell phone.

Randall Bolen, 30, of 307 Sara Street, Urbana, was indicted for menacing by stalking (F4).

Robert Price, 39, of 517 East Chillicothe Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted for weapons under disability (F3) and possession of drugs (F5).

James Lu, 42, of 194 Big Run Road, Delaware, was indicted for trademark counterfeiting (F5) with forfeiture of cash.

Anthony Whitt, 28, of 626 West Franklin Street, Kenton, was indicted for forgery (F5).
