A teen driver was cited on multiple counts after he left the scene of a two-vehicle injury crash at the rear entrance to Wal-Mart in the 500 block of Gunntown Road Thursday afternoon around 12:30.
The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Xavier Stepp, 19, of 813 Heritage Court, Apt. 48, Bellefontaine, was driving a ’96 Honda Accord when he pulled into the path of an eastbound 2010 Ford Fusion operated by Marla Ramey, 58, of 10411 Water Street, Middleburg.
After the vehicles collided, Stepp drove back into the parking lot and entered the store with passengers Mary Ellen Stewart, no age listed, 308 North Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, and Jeanny Reprogle, 2, of 813 Heritage Court, Apt. 48.
Ramey and her front seat passenger, Emilee Fillinger, 30, of 4000 Alpine Parkway, Lot R3, Zanesfield, suffered minor injuries. Both of them were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.
Four children passengers riding with Ramey were not injured. The children were 1, 2, 7, and 11-years-old. All of them were properly restrained in child seats.
As the officer was investigating the crash, Stepp returned and parked at 501 Gunntown Road.
He complained of a sore hip, but refused treatment.
The two passengers in Stepp’s vehicle were not injured.
Stepp was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, fictitious registration, no operator’s license, and failure to yield.
The Fusion sustained heavy damage while the Accord suffered moderate damage.
