A local driver that suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident southwest of Urbana last weekend was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital on Friday.
Stephen Persinger, 23, of St. Paris, was involved in a crash on State Route 55 on Sunday, August 12th around 10:25 p.m.
The Springfield Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Persinger was driving a 2001 Acura TL eastbound on 55 (about two miles west of State Route 560) when he lost control, then went off the left side of the road and struck the ditch.
Persinger, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected. He was transported from the scene by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
It's the fourth fatal accident in Champaign County this year.
Funeral services for Persinger will be tonight at 6:30 at the First Church of God in St. Paris.
