A local man was arrested after he allegedly choked his estranged girlfriend during a rolling domestic dispute near West Liberty Thursday afternoon around 4:30.
Zachery Whitaker (pictured), 23, of 1240 East Kingscreek Road, Urbana, got into an argument with Brittany Halterman, 25, of Cable, in the 6000 block of County Road 5.
Whitaker and Halterman, who have a child together, were arguing over their relationship.
Moments later, Halterman reported the incident to the Logan County Sheriff's Office.
She said that Whitaker choked her, which nearly caused her to pass out.
Deputies saw red marks on the left side of Halterman's neck.
Whitaker left the scene before deputies arrived.
Authorities found him at a residence in West Liberty. He admitted to grabbing Halterman to prevent her from jumping out of the car.
Whitaker was charged with domestic violence and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
