The Union County Multi Agency Drug Enforcement task force (M.A.D.E.) announced Friday morning that multiple arrests have been made as a result of a five-month long investigation.
The individuals arrested are believed to be significant players in the Union County drug scene.
The task force investigated multiple types of drug offenses that have occurred in the village of Plain City, the city of Marysville, rural Union County, and the village of Richwood.
Warrants were served for felony charges that include trafficking in drugs (more specifically opiate-based narcotics such as heroin) as well as prescription medication, marijuana, “Spice” and bath salts.
Additional charges for possession of drugs, deception to obtain, corrupting another with drugs, theft, receiving stolen property and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity also were served against a total of 14 individuals.
The investigation revealed individuals suspected of selling “Spice” to juveniles and others who were deceiving physicians to obtain prescription medications that could be either sold or traded. The suspects were also allegedly stealing property and then selling it to purchase drugs.
The task force also investigated the overdose of a 14-year-old and connected the overdose to several drug offenses.
