Two Indian Lake teens were arrested after an alert neighbor helped
authorities quickly solve a theft Friday afternoon.
Tony Whitt Jr. (pictured left), 18, of 11551 Mohawk Path, Lakeview, and Timothy Slavin (pictured right), 19, of 422 Buckeye Avenue, Russells Point, allegedly stole a rocking chair from the front porch of Cheryl Crissinger's residence at 165 State Route 720, Lakeview.
Crissinger's neighbor gave her a description of the truck and the license number.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office responded and contacted the vehicle's owner, Gary Yoakam, 29, of 11551 Mohawk Path, Lakeview.
Yoakam told deputies that Whitt used the truck to reportedly pick up a chair at school.
Whitt then confessed to stealing the chair and lying to his family.
Initially, his grandmother gave him $50 to buy the supplies to build a chair last school year.
Since Whitt never built the chair, he was driving around looking for a replacement.
After stealing the chair, Whitt went to Slavin's house and painted the chair.
Both men were charged with theft and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
