A tip from the public helped authorities shut down a large marijuana growing operation (pictured) at a rural East Liberty residence Monday.
The Union County Multi Agency Drug Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant at 25753 State Route 287.
Task Force members from the Marysville Division of Police, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Union County Prosecutor's Office raided the property late Monday morning and found the large indoor grow along with an elaborate surveillance system that had been installed around the property.
As a result of the search, 122 live marijuana plants were seized. Investigators also found evidence of an additional 94 plants that were previously grown on the property and an undetermined amount of processed marijuana. Four firearms and the surveillance and growing equipment were also seized. Sheriff Jamie Patton estimated the value of the plants around $1,000 each with a total street value of $122,000.
The Task Force is continuing their investigation and the case will be presented to the Union County Grand Jury.
