County man charged for city hit-skip

A local man was charged on multiple counts after witnesses helped police quickly solve a hit-skip crash in the 700 block of North Main Street Monday night around eight o'clock.

The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that a northbound '93 Chevy pickup driven by Brian Chamberlain, 34, of 215 East Main Street, Belle Center, rear-ended a '94 Chevy pickup operated by Michael Little, 18, of 621 West Columbus Avenue, Bellefontaine.

Little was slowed in traffic near Lafayette Street.

After the collision, Chamberlain fled northbound.

Witnesses recorded his license number.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office found Chamberlain's pickup at his residence.

Deputies said the truck had front end damage and Chamberlain appeared to be intoxicated.

His blood alcohol level was .168.

Chamberlain was charged with OVI, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension, and failure to maintain assured clear distance.

He was released to a family member.

No one was injured in Monday's crash.

Both pickups had minor damage.
