The Logan County Education Foundation held its annual Donor Celebration at Chattan Loch recently.
Northeastern Elementary teachers Desnee Wolters and Melanie Antram Ingraham gave a presentation on a LCEF grant they received during the 2011-1012 school year. Grant funds were used to bring the Columbus Zoo to their school. Several zoo animals, including an alligator, were shown to the students. Many students were excited at the chance to pet the alligator.
Following the program, the LCEF Trustees held their annual meeting. Susan Crusey was elected to a two-year term as foundation chair. Others elected to two-year terms include Pat Roby, vice chair; Mary Ann Knecht, secretary; and Jennifer Olson, treasurer. Committee chairs reviewed the previous year’s accomplishments during the meeting. Successes include establishing another dedicated teacher grant fund, awarding grants to each school in Logan County totaling $9,841 along with $4,949 in dedicated grants, and awarding 25 scholarships totaling over $55,000 to area students.
Bellefontaine High School junior Kristen Johnson provided entertainment, playing her violin at the donor event.
