The West Liberty Village Council had their first of two scheduled meetings for November. Two topics highlighted a brief agenda.
Liberty Township and West Liberty Village have discussed for some time the possibility of having a written agreement outlining how the use of the village town hall will be governed. The original agreement was burned in a file for many years. Decisions on renovation or upkeep of the hall were based on custom.
Rent is an example of a topic that would be addressed in the new agreement. The village pays the township rent for use of the hall. How much, how it should be determined and when the rent should be paid has been subject to interpretation. The binding agreement would address all of those issues.
West Liberty mayor Greg Hostetler commented that discussions between the township and village have gone smoothly and that a written agreement should be in place by the first of the year.
The council discussed the annual Christmas parade that is held the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year the event will be November 23th. The 5k Luminary Run will begin at 5 p.m. with the parade beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The next meeting will be November 26th at 7:30 p.m.
