Ohio Hi-Point will host the career center’s biggest event of the year Thursday evening from 4-7:30 at the high school on the Bellefontaine campus.
The 5th Annual Taste of the Future Open House is an opportunity for prospective high school students, current students, parents and community members to explore the educational opportunities Ohio Hi-Point offers.
Prospective high school students and families will get the chance to explore the school's 19 career-technical labs, learn more about OHP’s 12 Satellite programs and apply for admission to OHP for the 2013-2014 school year.
Current students will have the opportunity to speak to over ten college and university representatives as well as an employment agency to look over resumes and discuss interview tips. Students and parents can also fill out at FAFSA form with the help of Ohio Hi-Point staff.
Several community restaurants will be on hand to offer menu samplings to raise funds for student scholarships. Menu samplings can be purchased through tasting tickets, which are $4 for a bundle for ten tickets. Last year over $1,000 was raised to help support student scholarships.
Restaurants that will be participating include: Donato’s, Sweet Aromas Coffee, The Whitmore House, Lee’s Famous Chicken, Black Tie Café, Jolene’s Cozy Café, Chattan Loch Public House & Bistro, Sloan Inn and 2 G’s BBQ.
“The whole evening is designed to be a dynamic educational resource for students, parents and for our communities,” offered Kelsey Giesler, communications coordinator for Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. “We want to showcase our outstanding programs we offer to both high school students and adult learners.”
Adults wanting to explore career changes or colleges will have the chance to visit with Ohio Hi-Point’s Adult & Continuing Education programs, which have partnered with Clark State Community College, as well as speak with A.B.L.E representatives, and gain a glimpse of what OHP’s customized training for businesses can do to strengthen the community.

“There is going to be something for everyone,” remarked Giesler, “We invite students, parents and community members to have some fun, taste some great food, win prizes and raise money to support student scholarships.”
