Bellefontaine High School students and staff are showing the spirit of Thanksgiving through several different events this holiday season.
Agape, a service club at the high school, made Christmas Shoeboxes to send to children in Africa who likely will not receive any other Christmas presents. The group is collecting supplies for military care packages to send overseas to our troops as well.

The Red Cross Club is asking students during their lunch time to write letters to people in the military fighting for our country.
On November 4th, the Colors of Joy 5k was held in honor of Joy Delapena, a member of the Bellefontaine Class of 2013 who recently passed away due to leukemia. Several thousand dollars was raised that will be given to Joy's family to help pay for medical expenses.
Mrs. Motasem, FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) advisor, is hosting Green for Greens on Friday, November 16th from 5:30 to 7:00 in the Bellefontaine High School cafeteria. Green for Greens is a soup and salad dinner. Those attending will exchange their green (money) for FCCLA's greens (salad, along with soup).
The event is being held to raise money for Savannah Fortner and her family to help pay for recent medical expenses.
Savannah, age 17, was involved in a life-threatening accident on August 3rd. She was immediately life-flighted to Grant Hospital in Columbus and later to Children's Hospital where she received three surgeries.
Currently, Savannah breathes through a trachea because her windpipe/trachea has sealed up. She has a traumatic brain injury as well. She receives weekly therapy for both of these issues.
The medical expenses Savannah and her family have accumulated since the accident are very extensive. FCCLA is trying to help her family offset the costs by raising money through Green for Greens that will be held on Friday.
