Brown announces ticket lottery for Presidential Inauguration

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, pictured, (D-OH) reports that his office has a limited number of ticketed spaces available for Ohioans who wish to attend the 57th Presidential Inauguration ceremony on January 21st. Ohioans interested in attending the Inauguration may enter a lottery system that Brown’s office will utilize to distribute the limited number of tickets allotted.

“Since 1789, the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony has been a landmark event in our country,” Brown said. “I am honored that my office can help assist a number of Ohioans in securing tickets to the historic ceremony.”

While the event is open to everyone and the National Mall will have non-ticketed areas available to the public for viewing the ceremony, Brown’s office also has a limited number of ticketed spaces available. In 2008, Brown’s office received more than 20,000 requests from Ohioans for a few hundred tickets. Because similar demand is expected this year, the tickets will be distributed again by lottery.

Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 16th. Ohioans may enter their names once per household for up to two tickets using the form found here. Winners will be notified on December 18th.

For more information or to enter the lottery, please visit Brown’s website at http://www.brown.senate.gov/services/inauguration. Inquiries can also be directed to Brown’s Washington D.C. office at 202-224-2315.
