On Thursday, December 6 Ohio Hi-Point will be welcoming more than just parents to campus for Parent Teacher Conferences.
Students have announced a variety of activities, including a Burger Bar fundraiser, a petting zoo and a Salon-A-Thon for the community to take part in next week.
The Early Childhood Education and Culinary students are hosting a Burger Bar in the Sloan Inn from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 as a fundraiser for eight-year-old Triad native, Wyatt Wenger, after he suffered a brain-stem stroke over the summer.
With a $5 donation to “build your own burger” students hope to help the family with medical costs that insurance will not cover, gas money to travel back and forth to Nationwide Children's hospital and to give money in Wyatt's name to the Pediatric Stroke Research foundation. For more information about the Burger Bar fundraiser contact OHP instructors Angie Walls or Donna Beale at 937.599.3010 extension 1407 or 1356.
Also taking place that night from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. is Animal Management’s petting zoo. For only a dollar, or $5 for a group of six, community members can cuddle furry critters such as sugar gliders, hedgehogs, chinchillas, birds, kittens, a mini horse, a tortoise and much more. The proceeds will benefit the Columbus Zoo and endangered cats.
The Cosmetology students will also be active December 6, running the second Salon-A-Thon of the year from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling the Hi-Point Salon at 937.599.3010 ext. 1393. Haircuts range from $6 to $35. Pedicures, paraffin dips and facials are also available.
