A local man was arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly choked his wife and threatened to kill everyone in their rural West Mansfield home Sunday evening around six o'clock.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Dennis Nawman (pictured), 37, of 6269 County Road 20, became enraged after drinking much of the day.
He choked his wife, Lisa, and shot his stepson's 2000 Ford Mustang.
Initially, Nawman said deputies would have to "take him out".
Minutes later, Nawman put down the gun and surrendered near the road.
He was charged with three counts of domestic violence and single counts of criminal damaging and having weapons while intoxicated.
Nawman was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Two adult children and two juvenile children were inside the home during the dispute.
The Mustang is owned by Stephen Abbott, 21, of rural Bellefontaine.
The family members were not injured.
A deputy responding to the incident was injured in a car/deer accident.
Deputy Todd Shreve was driving a cruiser northbound on County Road 12 near State Route 47 when he struck a deer.
After handling the domestic at Nawman's home, Shreve was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for a possible hand injury.
The State Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
