A local driver was injured in a one-vehicle accident east of Bellefontaine on State Route 540 Sunday night just before nine o'clock.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Jeffery Shape, 45, of 1497 State Route 533, Zanesfield, was driving a 2008 Mazda eastbound on 540 near Township Road 135 when he failed to negotiate a curve, then went off the right side of the road and struck a fence and a ditch.
Shape, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Tri-Valley EMS.
He was cited for failure to control.
The Mazda suffered moderate damage.
