Large house fire displaces local family, destroys Christmas presents

A large structure fire destroyed a house in DeGraff near Riverside Schools Tuesday morning around 2:30.

Firefighters from DeGraff and Quincy responded to Curtis Thacker's 311 West Miami Street (State Route 235) residence. The house was fully engulfed in fire.

The blaze was reported by a trucker driving through the village.

All of the occupants safely escaped, including three children.

According to a Logan County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher, the fire destroyed the family’s Christmas presents.

Fire crews were on scene for about two hours.

The cause remains under investigation. Authorities are still compiling a damage estimate.

The Logan County Chapter of the American Red Cross provided emergency assistance to the family.

You can make donations to the family by contacting the Red Cross at 650-5000.
