A city man was arrested after he was caught shoplifting at Rite Aid, 230 South Main Street, Wednesday night around 7:45.
Shane Siebeneck (pictured), 35, of 715 West Chillicothe Avenue, Apt. 6, reportedly stole multiple items.
The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Siebeneck was shopping with Diamond Board, 23, of 715 West Chillicothe Avenue, Apt. 6, and a small child.
Siebeneck paid for a 2-liter of pop, but the store alarm sounded when he left with the stolen items in a bag.
The suspects then ran northbound in an alley behind the store.
Moments later, an officer found Siebeneck at the intersection of West Chillicothe Avenue and Evansville Street.
He told police that the other items were purchased at Speedy Mart, but he didn't have a receipt or a bag from Speedy Mart.
After police met with staff members at Speedy Mart and Rite Aid, Siebeneck was charged with theft and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Board was not charged.
The stolen items had a combined value of $36.56.
