The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that took place around 11 a.m. Sunday.
A 2005 Chevy Silverado driven by Brian Michael Blanton, 19, of Springfield, was northbound on North Hampton Rd. just north of Johnson Rd., when he struck 78-year-old Richard Prince, of Conover, OH.
Prince was standing in the roadway unloading a piece of machinery from a tractor trailer parked along the road when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner.
Blanton was not injured in the crash.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Pike Township Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
