The Urbana Police Department responded to the school around ten o'clock. Administrators had the student secured in the principal’s office.

According to officers, the BB gun was unloaded.

The student was arrested and transported to a juvenile detention facility in Marysville. The boy will remain in custody until a court appearance in Urbana scheduled for later this week.

He was charged with the following:

-Inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor.

-Disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor

The school was never placed under lockdown.

Parents were notified of the situation around 12:30 p.m.
