A Salem Township trustee was killed in a snowmobile accident near his rural Cable home in the 2400 block of East Kanagy Road Monday night around 8:45.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office reports that Howard Wilkins, 48, was driving a Yamaha northbound through a field when he struck a tree.
Wilkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Champaign County Coroner’s Office, West Liberty Fire Department, and Macochee Joint Ambulance District assisted at the scene
Deputies continue their investigation.
