The Urbana City Council gathered for its first meeting of 2013 Tuesday evening.

Several administrative reports were presented and approved by the Council. The first to be approved was the authorization of a purchase order to CMI in the amount of $14,020 for annual Data Base support for the Urbana Police Department.

Director of Administration Kerry Brugger says the annual cost helps the Urbana Police Department to manage their records.

Another purchase order was approved for $155,000, also an annual expense, to the Purvis Brothers for fuel sold by the city at Grimes Field Airport.

Also approved was a purchase order to CDM Smith, Inc. in the amount of $970,700 for construction services provided in the upgrade and expansion of the Water Pollution Control Facility.

Other reports that were approved include purchase orders for mail postage, annual audit fees, cleaning fees, and to Urbana City Schools for taping City Council meetings. All expenses are included in the city’s 2013 budget.

The Council approved a resolution and ordinance at the meeting as well.

A first reading rule was waived for a resolution that would allow Brugger to sign into a contract with the Ohio Development Services Agency for the Housing Revolving Loan Fund Administration Agreement. Council approved the resolution Tuesday because of impending deadlines.

Assistant to the Director of Administration Doug Crabill explains what the agreement between the city and the Ohio Development Services Agency will do.

The ordinance passed allows for the City of Urbana and Champaign County to receive a partial reimbursement from the Ohio Public Defender Commission for public defense expenses in the Champaign County Municipal Court.

The Urbana City Council will meet again January 22 at 7 p.m.
