Due to the block schedule BHS follows, many students will be starting new classes on Monday. However, the 2012-2013 schedule included more year-long skinny classes than in previous years.
Many foreign language, English, and math courses were switched to the skinny schedule to help students avoid long breaks from these classes and keep the information fresh.
Students say they are happy to exchange many of their old classes for new ones, but are frustrated that they will still have to go to their year-long classes.
Many students say the year-long classes are nice because they give more time for the information to sink in, but the drawback is not getting to switch the classes out for the new semester.
The prospect of new classes gives many students a new motivation as they head into the final months of the school year, particularly seniors who will be graduating in June.
AP classes taken during first semester often hold review sessions during A/I second semester. This is to ensure the students don't forget the information learned in the class when they take the AP exams in May.
