A local man wanted for writing several fraudulent checks was arrested on multiple charges after a brief foot pursuit Thursday night around six o'clock.
Michael Ansley (pictured), 41, of rural Roundhead (formerly Indian Lake) allegedly wrote several checks on an account that he knew was closed.
Several local businesses reported the scheme to the Washington Township Police Department Wednesday.
An officer on patrol passed Ansley in a vehicle Thursday afternoon.
The officer turned around and pursued the suspect.
Ansley, who was riding with his girlfriend, told her to pull into a farm near Roundhead and hide behind a barn.
The officer located the suspect vehicle.
Initially, Ansley fled on foot. He was quickly taken into custody and charged with theft by deception, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and possession of drugs.
Washington Township recovered suspected heroin packaged for sale.
Additional charges are pending.
Ansley was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The girlfriend was not charged.
