Four teens charged for damaging rural Bellefontaine mailboxes

Four local teens were charged for vandalizing a dozen mailboxes southeast of Bellefontaine late Saturday night.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office responded to a vandalism complaint in the 6000 block of Township Road 55 Saturday night around 11:25.

Nearly two hours later, the Bellefontaine Police Department stopped a car at Detroit Street and Lake Avenue for a traffic violation.

After an officer saw a baseball bat in the car, the four boys were turned over to the sheriff's office.

Lane Kiser, 16, of 120 Blair Avenue, Bellefontaine, was the driver.

Caleb Johnson, 16, of 903 North Main Street, Apt. 3, Bellefontaine, Isaiah Miller, 15, of 223 West Sandusky Avenue, Bellefontaine, and Juan Recinos, 16, of 115 Jerviss Street, Lakeview, were riding with Kiser.

Each boy was issued a summons for criminal damaging and released to their parents.

Ten mailboxes on Township Road 55 and two mailboxes in the 4000 block of County Road 1 were vandalized.
