A local driver was killed in a one-vehicle accident in rural Champaign County Thursday morning around 6:50.
The sheriff's office reports that Alison Bumgardner, 47, of St. Paris, was driving a '97 GMC van southbound in the 6000 block of Zimmerman Road (just north of Route 36) when she lost control and went off the right side of the road.
Bumgardner was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Champaign County Coroner Josh Richards.
Passenger Caitlin Woodrum, 26, of St. Paris, suffered non life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Urbana Mercy Hospital by St. Paris EMS.
It's the first fatal accident in Champaign County this year.
Deputies continue their investigation.
