A Benjamin Logan Middle School team competed in the First Lego League (FLL) Ohio State Championship at the Nutter Center over the weekend.
Team Mops was awarded the State Inspiration Award. The FLL Core Values Award celebrates a team that is empowered by their FLL experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.
Mops was also part of an Alliance Team, the Vikings, which earned the second highest score in the Alliance Challenge. The Alliance Challenge allows the concepts of Gracious Professionalism and Cooperation to be put into direct practice. In the Alliance Challenge teams teach other teams how to operate their robot and trust them to operate it in a competition setting, while they run another team’s robot.
Both the Inspiration Award and Alliance Challenge ranking can be added to their Inspiration Award at the District Level and their Champion’s Award at the Regional Level. Mops was also named a Regional Ambassador Team.
Mops members included Nathan Coffield, Chenhao Ma, Ray McCormick, and Jada Orahood.
The team is coached by Amy McCormick and mentored by Chris Coffield.
