Two local non-profit organizations will each receive $2,500 at a ceremony Monday, thanks to the generosity of a local farmer.
The Benjamin Logan FFA and the Logan County Agricultural Society were selected to receive the checks by Robert Ackley of East Liberty, who won the right to donate the money as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow Communities.
Farmers in 1,271 counties across 39 states signed up for the opportunity to win the $2,500 grants, which is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. When the USDA declared Logan County a disaster area because of the drought, Ackley was allowed two grants, prompting the gifts to the Benjamin Logan FFA and the Logan County Agricultural Society.
Mr. Ackley and a representative of Monsanto will be on hand to present the checks to both organizations during the scheduled Benjamin Logan FFA meeting at Benjamin Logan High School Monday at 7 pm.
