The Logan County Grand Jury indicted a local teacher on 12 felony sex charges Tuesday morning.
Riverside High School and Middle School Band Director Tim Shook (pictured), 34, of 816 County Road 24, DeGraff, was indicted for one count of rape (F1), five counts of sexual battery (F3), one count of attempted sexual battery (F3), and five counts of gross sexual imposition (F3).
The charges stem from alleged incidents with an 18-year-old Riverside female student and a 15-year-old Riverside female student.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office arrested Shook at his residence Tuesday. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Logan County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing the investigation involving Mr. Shook and inappropriate relationships with students. At this time, law enforcement has concerns there may be other victims and would encourage them to come forward. They can contact the sheriff's office at 592-5731.
Listen to Riverside Superintendent Scott Mann react to the indictment.
In an unrelated matter, Shook was placed on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave on February 4th for an investigation of improper conduct in the classroom.
Superintendent Mann says the case was first reported to Logan County Children's Services, then forwarded to the Logan County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to an assault complaint and forwarded their report to the Logan County Prosecutor's Office for review.
Shook was not charged for that incident.
Two weeks ago, the Riverside Board of Education conducted their monthly meeting before a crowd of about 75 community members supporting Shook.
Jennifer Bowman was the lone person from the crowd to address the board on behalf of Shook. Bowman noted the band’s accomplishments under Shook, his positive relationship with students and parents, his high expectations, and his work habits.
Superintendent Mann and the board appreciated Bowman’s comments but because the investigation was on-going, they were unable to comment about the case.
Shook has taught at Riverside for two-and-a-half years.
