Urbana Council adopted a resolution to participate in a sewer line extension project to the Robert Rothschild Farm on US Route 36 East Tuesday.
The sewer line would extend roughly from the Wal-Mart complex along the north side of 36 to the Rothschild Farm. Champaign County will be applying for a CDBG Economic Development Water & Sewer grant. Urbana will provide matching funds for the grant in the amount of $160,000. Once the project is completed the new sewer line would be connected to Urbana's current sewer system. The City of Urbana, Champaign County, and the Rothschild Farm are working together on the project.
Council authorized the purchase of two John Deere Gator TXs. Each Gator will cost $7,694.10. Council waived the competitive bid process to purchase the Gators through the John Deere STS contract with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Koenig Equipment in Urbana will receive credit for the sales. One Gator will be used by the Parks Division and the other by Oakdale Cemetery. The current 12-year-old Gators being used by both departments will continue to be used until they can no longer be maintained.
Director of Administration Assistant Doug Crabill explains the Gator purchases and the Rothschild Farm project.
Three collective bargaining agreement ordinances were adopted. The first agreement was between Urbana, the city's firefighters, and the Urbana Firefighters Association, I.A.F.F. Local 1,823. The second agreement was between Urbana, the city's service divisions, and the Public Employees of Ohio Teamsters Local Union #284. The final agreement was between Urbana, the city's fire captains, and the Urbana Firefighters Association, I.A.F.F. Local 1,823.
The City of Urbana Council will meet again on March 26th at 7 pm.
