Local burglar sentenced to prison; city man sentenced on felony sex charge

Four defendants were sentenced and four pleaded guilty before Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O’Connor earlier this week.

Jason Overholt (pictured), 34, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for burglary.

The sentencing stems from a burglary near Bellefontaine two months ago.

On January 18th, Larry Robinaugh, 70, of 1416 County Road 1, came home and confronted Overholt in the living room.

Robinaugh held the suspect at gunpoint and called 911 to report the burglary.

A nearby deputy from the Logan County Sheriff's Office responded and took Overholt into custody.

During the arrest, Robinaugh went upstairs and found Matthew Cheadle, 31, at large.

He held Cheadle at gunpoint. Moments later, the deputy handcuffed Cheadle.

Both suspects were wearing masks, hooded jackets, and gloves.

They entered the home with a prybar.

Overholt and Cheadle were charged with felony counts of aggravated burglary and possession of criminal tools.

Nothing was taken from Robinaugh's residence.

Authorities believe the suspects entered the home from Lake Avenue.

A Bellefontaine Police Department K-9 helped track the burglars' path.

Overholt and Cheadle were lodged in the Logan County Jail.

In February, Overholt pleaded guilty to burglary.

James Caudill (pictured), 49, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to two years in prison and classified as a Tier II sex offender. He must report his address to law enforcement every 90 days for 25 years for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Last June, the Bellefontaine Police Department arrested Caudill at his residence on a warrant for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

The victim is a Bellefontaine female under the age of 14.

The girl's mother contacted police on May 15th.

In July, Caudill was indicted for two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor (F3).

Ronald Kensler, 47, of West Liberty, was sentenced to thirty days in the Logan County Jail, five years community control, and ordered to pay a $500 fine, restitution, and court costs for aggravated assault.

Zeke McColloch, 25, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to three years community control and ordered to pay court costs and attorney fees for non-support of dependents.

Brunetta Walker, 54, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs and complicity to possession of drugs.

Raymond Joseph, 36, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs, one count of possession of drugs, and one count of intimidation of a witness.

Matthew Bugg, 20 of East Liberty, pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition.

Presentence investigations were ordered and sentencings are scheduled for April 22nd.

Shannon Topping, 32, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to theft and was placed on the prosecutor’s pretrial diversion program.
