A local man was killed in a plane crash (pictured) just west of West Liberty Thursday morning around 11:20.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Jeff Watson, 51, of Bellefontaine, was the lone occupant in a 2004 Cirrus single-engine plane that crashed in a cornfield on Township Road 192 north of Township Road 193.
The plane was engulfed in flames when troopers arrived.
Watson was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Paul Thurman, who lives near the crash, reported the accident.

The Federal Aviation Administration and State Highway Patrol are investigating the accident.
Lieutenant Rick Zwayer says the plane left the Bellefontaine Regional Airport and was headed to Jackson, Ohio.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office, Logan County Coroner Dr. Michael Failor, and West Liberty Police and Fire assisted at the scene.
