A local American Legion Post will host a Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony at the Carnegie Building, on the corner of Sandusky Avenue and Main Street, Saturday at noon.
The local ceremony hosted by Bellefontaine’s American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173 is part of the first such observance in Ohio.
Local veteran, former Army Sgt. William “Bill” Arnold will be honored and presented with a U.S. flag that has flown over the Capital and at the Ohio State House.
Arnold was wounded three times in his sixth-month tour of duty and received multiple medals for his service including a Bronze Star for valor and three Purple Hearts.
Arnold is currently serving a five-year term on the Board of the Logan County Veterans Commission representing disabled veterans.
