The Marketplace touting two new businesses in downtown Bellefontaine

What began as a hobby in carpentry and woodworking, soon developed into a high-demand business. Steve and Linda Galyk, of Bellefontaine, started by creating custom shelves, tables and dressers. Today they’ve expanded to include homemade soy candles with scents including Buttercream, among many other novelty gift items.

Linda Galyk remarked, “We saw that a lot of exciting improvements were taking place in downtown, and we were getting so many orders and requests that we just ran out of room and needed a more central location.”

The progress in downtown continues at The Marketplace (formerly Center City Mall), now home to over 14 small businesses. The residents of the property enjoy a flat monthly lease rate that includes all-utilities costs for heating, cooling, water, trash, and electric. Another reason the Galyk’s were attracted to the property was the types of other businesses inside the property, including Mad River Knife, Judy’s Jazzercise, PROSHOT Firearms, and most recently The Lock Shop Salon, a full-service beauty and hair salon, among many others.

“The building is very nice, we have great memories of the old GC Murphy’s and what Jason [Duff] and his team have done with the building is just wonderful. The other businesses are very welcoming and eager to help us with promotion. It’s an exciting opportunity,” said Linda.

Father and Son’s Woodworks features custom furniture, homemade candles and warmers, crafts and floral arrangements, and many other gift shop novelty items. Their hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10:00am to 5:30pm and Saturday 10:00am to 3:00pm and they’re located on the first floor of The Marketplace at 130 South Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio, in Suite 108.

The grand opening of The Lock Shop Salon is slated for Thursday, April 4 from 7-9:00PM. Here’s the Facebook event with more details: https://www.facebook.com/events/121051968077888/. The operator of The Lock Shop is Micki Martin and she has four other stylists working with her.
