Four Indian Lake sophomores attended Ohio Northern University’s annual math awareness day on Tuesday.
Sophomores Tyler Rode, Sarah Schlup, Winnie Miller, and Morganne Faler (pictured left to right) along with math teacher Alexis Scheiderer represented Indian Lake.
Students attended four math sessions covering topics of number theory, statistics, taxi geometry, and math careers. They also toured the campus and ate lunch in the school cafeteria.
In 1986 President Reagan created Mathematics Awareness Week, which eventually grew to Mathematics Awareness Month. The designation is to help show the importance of math to our nation’s economy and growth.
Ohio Northern has hosted math awareness day each April for the last 12 years.
