One injured in downtown bar fight

A bartender suffered minor injuries while trying to break up a fight at Moore's Cafe, 111 South Detroit Street, Friday morning around 1:15.

The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that three males attacked Ed Ford, 37, of 118 West Auburn Avenue, Bellefontaine.

When bartender Kim Hengsteler, 45, of 1600 South Detroit Street, Apt. 45, Bellefontaine, attempted to get in the middle of the fight, one of the suspects struck her hand with a bar stool.

The three suspects fled before police arrived. Two of them ran westbound on West Columbus Avenue and the third man jumped into a Ford Focus with a temporary tag. The vehicle went westbound on West Chillicothe Avenue.

Hengsteler declined medical attention.

Ford, who told police all he saw were "nine fists flying", said his only injury was his pride. He did not want to pursue charges.

No reason was given for the fight.

Police continue their investigation.
