Hi-Point Career Center student advances to Nationals

Colton Low, a senior at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, advanced to the SkillsUSA National Championships after winning gold in Prepared Speech at the 2013 Ohio SkillsUSA Conference in Columbus this week.

Over 3,000 career and technical students from all across Ohio competed in 95 different contests at the conference.

Low is pictured left standing atop the podium.

Low's winning speech focused on how the SkillsUSA slogan "SkillsUSA:Champions At Work" relates to the national program of work in the area of professional development. Low earned a silver medal in the same event at last year's competition.

The 49th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference will be conducted in Kansas City in June.

Also earning a spot on the podium at the conference were the Architectural and Mechanical Design team of Andrew Jones, Jordan Dunaway, and Frankie James, who earned a bronze medal.
