A teen driver was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 68 south of Bellefontaine Sunday around noon.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Timothy Sherer, 18, of 212 East Palmer Avenue, Bellefontaine, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord northbound on 68 when he rear-ended a 2003 Chevy Silverado operated by Donald Hostetler, 87, of Green Hills, West Liberty.
The impact forced the pickup into the rear of a 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by Raymond Etgen, 50, of 9600 Hite Road, West Liberty.
Troopers report that Etgen was stopped for a car making a left turn onto Township Road 199 West and Hostetler was slowing down for the stopped traffic.
Following the collision, Sherer's car went off the left side of the road into a field (pictured).
He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Macochee Joint Ambulance District.
Hostetler and his wife, Annabelle, 86, were not injured.
Etgen and his wife, Kathy, 51, and their three daughters, ages 14, 17, and 18, were not injured.
Sherer was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
All of the occupants were wearing their seat belts.
The Accord and the pickup suffered heavy damage.
The van had moderate damage.
