As a Subway Franchisee of the Year, the Ritter’s are honored for accomplishments in building sales and increasing profitability while also achieving excellent store evaluations. They were selected from among the chain’s more than 12,000 U.S. and Canadian franchisees.

“This is a great honor and it is also humbling as there are a lot of great, hard working franchisees out there. We are blessed with a great group of managers and sandwich artists that have allowed us to grow because of their continued ability to provide great sandwiches at a value and excellent customer service. Also, our customers have been extremely responsive to our health and value messages and very supportive of our stores,” Mr. Ritter said.

The Ritters bought their first Subway 20 years ago and have specialized at building large free standing stores, some with drive thrus, in smaller cities and rural communities. They currently own five stores with more in development and continue to provide job and career opportunities by employing 65 staff members. They are always involved in community events and support local schools, organizations, and charities.

"We have great admiration for the hard work and dedication of the thousands of Subway Franchisees throughout the world and in the millions of customers that they serve. Franchise owners like Traci and Mike continue to be the heart and soul of the Subway family. They are on the front lines daily and their ability to deliver a great customer experience again and again is what keeps our fans coming back. Our success depends upon their excellence in operating their restaurant and motivating their team to provide the best service and sandwiches possible," says Don Fertman, Chief Development Officer for the Subway restaurant chain.

With more than 37,000 locations in 100 countries, the Subway restaurant chain is the world’s largest restaurant franchise in terms of number of locations. Headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, and with regional offices in Amsterdam, Beirut, Brisbane, Miami, and Singapore, the Subway chain was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. Their partnership, which continues today, marked the beginning of a remarkable journey — one that has made it possible for thousands of individuals to build and succeed in their own business.
