Lakeview Council heard from Logan County Water Pollution Control District Director Chris Clark Monday.
Clark explained that the EPA has mandated that the district eliminate inflow and infiltration in its system. He also informed council that the district will have people in the area conducting an income survey. The survey is needed to tell how much of an increase in sewer rates residents can afford. Without a complete income survey, residents in the district could be paying double or more than double their current rate if all of the EPA required mandates are put into effect.
Council adopted a resolution to enter into the Ohio Cooperative Purchase Act. This allows the village to purchase equipment at state bid prices.
Council approved free garage sales days for the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends.
Shannon Titus was named the new clerk at the Water Department.
The Lakeview Fire Department also received a $59,375 federal grant. The funds will be used to purchase new gear.
Mayor Ryan Shoffstall discusses the meeting.
