Local marijuana grow discovered

A marijuana grow was discovered in western Union County Monday afternoon around one o’clock.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Marysville Police Department raided an Allen Township residence at 21100 State Route 245.

As a result of a domestic violence investigation, deputies received information that William Cardine (pictured), 33, was growing marijuana in the basement of the residence.

Authorities entered the residence and took Cardine into custody without incident.

While searching the residence, officers found a room in the basement where Cardine was cultivating marijuana.

Thirteen marijuana plants were seized as well as growing equipment. The total weight of the plants was 453.4 grams.

Cardine was charged with a fifth-degree felony count of illegal cultivation of marijuana. He was lodged in the Tri-County Regional Jail.
