A Bellefontaine man who raped a four-year-old girl in December was sentenced by Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O'Connor Wednesday afternoon.
Matthew Haley II, 28, was sentenced to 15 years to life for single counts of rape and gross sexual imposition.
If released, Mr. Haley will serve five years mandatory post release control. He was also labeled a Tier III sex offender and must register with the sheriff for life.
Haley pleaded guilty to both felony charges on May 28th.
On June 3rd, Haley (pictured with attorney Bridget Hawkins) attempted to withdraw guilty pleas of rape and gross sexual imposition.
On Wednesday, he withdrew that motion and told the court he was ready for sentencing.
Haley faced a maximum sentence of life in prison.
In February, Haley was indicted for two counts of rape (F1) and two counts of gross sexual imposition (F3) along with a sexually violent predator specification.
The Bellefontaine Police Department started an investigation on December 23rd.
