A downtown store is celebrating a milestone today.
Lee's Comfort Shoes, 109 North Main Street, opened on June 13th, 1983.
Owner Jack Reser (pictured) said footwear needs have changed over the last 30 years, but the store's commitment to service and value remain a constant.
The company was founded by Jack's grandfather, Lee Reser Sr., 65 years ago when he purchased Kibby's shoe store in Fremont.
Lee Reser Sr. utilized his entrepreneurial skills to develop a multi-branded shoe store, the first of its kind in northern Ohio.
All three of Lee's sons joined the family business. They eventually became a multi-store chain opening stores in Bucyrus, Fremont, and Tiffin.
The oldest son, Lee Jr., opened the store in Bucyrus.
All seven of his children worked in the family business.
Today, Lee’s Comfort Shoes is owned by Jack and Heidi Reser and Jeff and Gayle Reser. Jack and Jeff are the grandsons of Lee Sr.
In 1983, Jack and Heidi purchased the old Neumairs/Vicario’s shoe store.
The local Lee's Shoes specializes in the relief of foot pain by combining new technology of materials with the practical application of shoe manufacturing, modifications, and fitting.
The local store is offering a large sale Friday and Saturday to commemorate their 30 years in Bellefontaine.
Listen to Jack Reser reflect on the store’s 30th anniversary.
Today, Lee’s Comfort Shoes has six stores located in Bellefontaine, Bucyrus, Fremont, Worthington, Tiffin, and Sandusky.
