Wind damage reported across Ohio, minimal impact in Logan County

High winds caused damage throughout the state early this morning.

The storm arrived in West Central Ohio around 12:30 a.m.

In Logan County, a grain bin at the Kinney Farm (pictured) on State Route 274 near Lewistown was destroyed.

The bin, which holds several thousand bushels of crops, was empty.

There were a few utility poles knocked over across the county, including one on County Road 130 near County Road 13.

The Bellefontaine Fire Department responded to a reported lightning strike at a residence on East Brown Avenue near East High. No damage was found and firefighters believe it may have been a transformer.

A semi was blown over on Route 33 west of Wapakoneta just after midnight.

Several barns were damaged in Wapakoneta. Many trees were also knocked down in Auglaize County.

There were reports of several downed power lines in northern Shelby County near Botkins and Jackson Center.

In Union County, wind damage was reported in Byhalia and Essex.

State Route 739 north of Raymond was closed for roughly 12 hours today because of downed power lines.

An egg farm and farm equipment building sustained damage in the 26000 block of State Route 739.

The egg farm, Nature Pure LLC., located at 26586 State Route 739, Raymond, had wind damage to several buildings on the property.

Vice President Scott Culwell reports that three of the five grain legs on the feed mills were damaged. He expects a four to seven day setback for the facility.

Across the road from the egg farm, the Wedding Family Farm equipment building sustained significant structural damage (pictured right).

Stan Wedding reported that the building was built about five years ago and that most of the family's farm equipment was covered with debris.

The Ohio Emergency Management Agency says straight-line winds topping 70 mph were reported overnight. No serious injuries were reported in the state.

Morrow County officials are investigating two reports of possible tornado touchdowns.
