The Bellefontaine Rotary Club heard an update on the local bike trail project during their weekly meeting Monday afternoon at the Friendly Senior Center.
Doug Chivington (pictured) of Bellefontaine was the featured speaker.
He said an Ohio Department of Natural Resources grant worth $500,000 will pay for the majority of the 16-mile trail.
The remaining $300,000 is from local donors. Currently, $210,000 has been raised.
If you would like to donate, send your payment to Simon Kenton Pathfinders, PO Box 91, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
The trail will run from the north side of Urbana to Southview Park. It will be a crushed limestone surface to accommodate bicyclists, walkers, and runners.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.
