Sleepy driver causes city crash

A local driver fell asleep at the wheel and caused a crash in the 300 block of South Main Street Thursday morning just before six o'clock.

The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Adam Prater, 26, of 53 Pimtown Road, West Liberty, was driving a 1998 Honda Accord northbound in the center lane when he drifted into the right lane and struck the left rear side of a 2000 Mercury Cougar operated by Shannon Daniels, 33, of 348 Belle Meadows Drive, Bellefontaine.

No one was injured.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Prater was cited for failure to control.

Both vehicles suffered moderate damage.
