A man was arrested on a felony charge following a neighborhood dispute in Russells Point Friday morning around 3:15.
Roy Carey (pictured), 27, of 3793 Sunrise Lake Circle, Columbus, was charged with felonious assault.
Diedra Mallow, 30, of 160 Burkhart Avenue, Apt. C, was issued a summons for assault.
The Russells Point Police Department responded to 160 Burkhart Avenue, Apt. A, after callers reported a violent incident.
When officers arrived, they found a large amount of blood and resident Jacob Johnston, 20, with a severe laceration to his forehead.
Johnston was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Indian Lake EMS, then transferred to Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Following a lengthy investigation, officers learned Johnston was accused by neighbors of stealing and a verbal altercation turned violent.
Johnston was struck with a beer bottle, which caused the large laceration and then punched in the face, breaking his jaw.
Carey admitted to striking Johnston in self-defense, but other witnesses described the violent assault continuing even after Johnston attempted to barricade himself into a bathroom after being struck by the bottle.
Mallow allegedly pushed and attacked Shannon Cotterman, a friend of Johnston.
Cotterman, 19, of 160 Burkhart Avenue, Apt. A, was reportedly standing in front of the bathroom door Johnston attempted to barricade himself in. Mallow allegedly attacked Cotterman when she refused to get out of the way.
