Many local young people are making their final preparations in the few days before the 2013 Logan County Fair.
The Master Mix 4-H Club is one of many groups in the area preparing for the busy week. Members recently took part in one of their last regular meetings for the year.
Deanna Robinson is the head advisor of Master Mix 4-H Club and says the weeks before fair each year are extremely frantic, but well worth it in the end.
“This two weeks before fair is really hectic for us,” Robinson said. She noted the busy weeks are for one goal, “To make the best better.”

Weighing animals, completing record books, planning fair booth setup, and other major items all have to be completed in the coming days, she explained. All individuals taking projects must complete the tedious process of record books showing completion of required activities.
“What we tell the kids is we’re giving you life skills for the real world,” Robinson said.
The dynamic club tallies 48 members and 19 advisors. When asked about the high amount of advisors, Robinson said it is a goal to support members by having at least one advisor at every event their club is involved in.
Master Mix 4-H Club members Jarrett Wical and Hannah O’Brien are two of the young people getting ready for the fair. Wical is an experienced showman with chickens and woodworking projects while O’Brien, a sixth-grader, is preparing for her first year at the fair with two market hogs.

Master Mix is one of the larger clubs in the county and has members in many events outside of livestock. These can range in variety from culinary and sewing to woodworking and electronics.
The 2013 Logan County Fair is July 8-13 with junior fair events and other activities going on daily.
