Russells Point declares state of emergency

Russells Point Mayor Robin Reames has declared a state of emergency for the village following Wednesday's storm.

Wind gusts ranging 50 to 80 miles per hour caused widespread damage to the electrical infrastructure with downed power lines and blocked roadways.

Mayor Reames said the village will be requesting local government assistance to help with debris cleanup.

Roads are closed at the intersections of Lake Avenue and Marshall Street, Russell Street and Taylor Street, and Russell Street and Elliott Road for tree removal. The Logan County Engineer's Office will be assisting with large tree removal.

Residents may take debris to the front of the municipal building at 433 State Route 708. Areas will be designated for brush, branches, limbs, and logs.

Residents are reminded that all contractors must be registered with the village. For a list, contact the village office at 843-2245.
