Despite the morning showers that blanketed Logan County Saturday the annual Hi Point Women's Center 5k Run for Their Lives went on without missing a beat. More than 140 runners registered for the event and another 20+ walked up and registered minutes before the race. This is the biggest field the in the event's history.
The morning kicked off with the first Kids Fun Run which had 10 participants.
Then at 8:00, after a group prayer, the field of runners paraded on to Ludlow Road behind Blue Jacket Park. The large field then darted north on their journey around town and back to Dodd Stadium where the race finished.
The race is put on each summer by the Hi Point Women's Center which is located on North Detroit in Bellefontaine. The center's purpose is to help women in Logan County who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. They offer free pregnancy tests, ultra sounds, counseling, and even programs after the baby is born to help struggling families in our community. The Hi Point Women's Center is a Christian-based organization that embraces the sanctity of human life.
Listen to Executive Director April Staton recap the annual event.
